129th RQW – 2009 Afghanistan Deployment – Djibouti? Is that near Albuquerque?

Yesterday approximately 30 Air National Guardsmen from the 129th Rescue Wing based at Moffett Field, CA boarded two MC-130Ps and left behind their friends, family and coworkers and headed off to Djibouti, Africa. While heartbreaking for their families, these brave Guardsmen deployed to provide combat search and rescue support for Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa. To these and all Armed Forces personnel everywhere, thank you for everything you do. And to their family and friends, and even bigger thank you for your sacrifices.

Safe Journeys and we’ll see you when you come back!  And to the readers of this blog, please leave a comment below wishing our troops well.

  1. Thanks Sagar and I – 2nd your Gratitude & Appreciation… and thanks for making these pics for them.
My cousin’s husband left this last Sunday for a 1.5 yr duty in Iraq- his 4th time there…
And this time his wife and 4 daughters don’t even have a lsptop with webcam on which
to communicate with him. I know what it does to his family left behind. So thank you again to
all who serve by going and those who serve by staying behind and caring for their families.

  2. Sagar, Nice shooting and great story. It’s great to help get the word out on the things the 129th is doing and the kinds of sacrifices these folks are making.

  3. You did an awesome job of capturing the emotion of the moment, Sagar. I’ll be sure to pass this post along to the other members of the 129th!

  4. To the troops – Please be safe and keep your head down. Have a safe trip and return!

Sagar – Well covered my friend. I hope you’re doing well.

  5. Wishing a safe trip to those in the 129th. Thanks Sagar for always presenting a deeper side. Your shots always make me feel like I’m right there with you.

  6. Growing up as a military brat, this scene played out many times in my life; thanks for letting me see it through adult eyes.

To the 129th, may God speed you home safely and quickly to your loved ones. Thank you for serving.

  7. As a Veteran of Desert Storm and a photographic colleague of Sagar’s, I wish those deploying a safe tour and offer my profound thanks for carrying on the mission, I often wish to rejoin you but alas, age has made that an impossibility. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this trying time.

  8. Beautiful job Sagar (HONEST!) – these pictures put faces to the sacrifices that our service people and their families make for this country.

To the 129th: Be safe and come home soon, we appreciate all that you do for us.
